Environment and Energy

It is generally recognised (and enshrined in the 2030 Agenda) that the eradication of poverty is one of today’s great challenges and is an indispensable requirement for sustainable development.
In societies which are heavily dependent on natural resources, as are the vast majority of developing countries, responsible sustainable management of these resources has increased.

The current international framework (1) was intended to strengthen environmental development and increase synergies both in the area of social elements and their guidelines. It requires the collaboration and partnership of all entities in order to bring about a change towards creating more sustainable and resilient societies.
It is in this context that Portuguese co-operation has been trying to strengthen environmental elements in order to align policies with international requirements to help partners respond to the needs both bilaterally and within the framework of the CPLP. See below some of the actions and projects in which we have been involved:
