In order to certify the Portuguese language competences of students enrolled in the Basic and Secondary Education Network, certification tests are created with ten levels of linguistic progression.
The approximate number of hours for each level is 60 hours. The first level (A1.1) may start in any of the school cycles.
Students can apply for more advanced levels according to their language skills by providing the test of certification.
